Outdated lamination line upgraded with Glaston ProL<\/h3>\n

Enhancing its flat glass lamination line by replacing outdated\u00a0components with new technology, Malaysia-based Crystal Safety\u00a0Glass (CSG) turned an expensive problem into an unexpectedly positive\u00a0experience. The move was not easy, but it helped bring the\u00a0processor\u2019s existing line back up to date with an impressive list
\nof value-added features. For the plant operators, the upgrade\u00a0lowered the cost of modernizing the existing line and provided less downtime, higher productivity and significant improvements in\u00a0energy consumption.<\/p>\n

Frank Tan, Group Managing Director at\u00a0Crystal Safety Glass and his team decided to go with\u00a0Glaston\u2019s ProL<\/a> flat glass laminating zone\u00a0to replace their outmoded pre-pressing\u00a0unit and heating chamber. Not only is the\u00a0technology new, but it includes a wide\u00a0range of features. In particular, the full\u00a0convection technology of the new ProL\u00a0seemed ideal for providing much more\u00a0accurate and optimized heat transfer,\u00a0therefore enabling consistently high glass quality.<\/p>\n

The promise of a quick turnaround\u00a0also helped. It was essential for CSG to\u00a0minimize production downtime \u2013 with\u00a0numerous customers expecting orders all
\nacross Asia Pacific. \u201cIt took only seven days\u00a0for Glaston\u2019s installation team to dismantle, install, integrate and commission the new parts,\u201d Frank recalls. \u201cThe transition was so smooth, in fact, that it barely interrupted our production schedule.\u201d<\/p>\n

A month after the upgrade, the customer\u00a0reported great performance improvement\u00a0and even an unexpectedly considerable production increase. \u201cWe are really pleased with the results we are seeing now,\u201d Frank comments. \u201cWe reached over 90% in capacity increase, which was unexpected and really an impressive figure. The\u00a0upgrade resolved a lot of our issues and improved our yield significantly.\u201d<\/p>\n
