Lower surface emissivity glass and superior flatness with Glaston FC500

From small beginnings in 1894 when Mr J E Offland opened his stained glass workshop in the centre of Manchester, Float Glass Industries have grown over a century through good service and competitive pricing on volumes. Today, FGI have earned a strong position in the market as one of the largest, independent glass companies in the UK for the window and glazing industry. Today, the business is run by Joint Managing Directors David Offland and Dawn Offland, now the fourth generation of the Offland family.

In 2005, Float Glass bought their first Glaston furnace. This changed the business model for the company so that they were able to temper bigger, thicker glasses for the first time. As Float Glass changed their focus over the years, they have invested in numerous flat glass processing machines from Glaston.

”When we knew we needed to replace our oldest furnace, we went to see the Glaston FC500 in operation at another UK location. The quality was definitely good. The machine provides the ability to toughen lower surface emissivity glass and give superior flatness, which are both very important to us. In particular, we were looking for higher capacity, exceptional glass quality and state-of-the art control systems, all of which Glaston FC500 can offer us.”
– Dawn & David Offland, Managing Directors, Float Glass Industries
