This year, Bystronic Maschinen AG based in Bützberg (Switzerland) can look back upon a successful 50 year company history. This was reason enough for the management board to celebrate this anniversary together with all employees and their families. Consequently, an evening event was held in a circus tent alongside a company open day on the 20th and 21st of June 20th 2014.
Bystronic Maschinen AG was founded in Bützberg in 1964 and, as part of the Bystronic glass Group, has been part of Zürich based Conzzeta AG since 1994.
Since the company was founded, Bystronic Maschinen AG has been active in the development and manufacture of processing systems for the fully-automatic cutting, breaking, grinding, drilling and handling of flat glass. Following reorganisation in 2012, the location has concentrated exclusively on automotive glass which has proven very successful: Almost half half of all passenger cars worldwide are equipped with glass produced using production units from Bützberg.
“Our employees have played a significant role in our success thanks to their commitment and long-standing company affiliation, “, said Manfred Dietrich, Managing Director at Bystronic Maschinen AG. “So naturally, we wanted to take this opportunity to thank them with these celebrations”. An evening programme of corporate entertainment took place in a circus tent which was accompanied by culinary specialities as well as speeches from group and company management speakers. The highlight of the evening was a panel discussion with Ernst Zumstein, Heinz Wälti and Willi Flückiger who, for decades, have played a massive role in the company’s history. They belong to the group of founders and provided the guests with an entertaining insight into the early years and the development of glass processing machinery over the decades.
Numerous relatives and family members of Bystronic glass employees grabbed the opportunity to participate in “Family Saturday” by looking behind the scenes and visiting the workstations and activity areas designed in accordance with the Lean Principle.
For the visitors, it was also a unique opportunity to view the fully-automatic “champ’speed” automotive glass production line in production conditions.
The 50-year anniversary celebrations are
continuing and will conclude at glasstec 2014 in Düsseldorf. There, Bystronic
glass together with its customers will celebrate a daily “Swiss Hour”
complete with Swiss culinary delights.
